Make A Child Smile started in the academic year of 2010-2011, and serves children around the world who are fighting cancer, cystic fibrosis, and other illnesses. We write to children featured on www.sendkidstheworld.com and postpals.co.uk, and try to make them smile with our hand-made crafts and letters. Imagine a child’s excitement as she opens something addressed to her all the way from China! The children’s hobbies are usually detailed in their online profiles, and we format our letters according to a child’s age and special interests.
While reaching out to children overseas, Make A Child Smile is also helping out at a local orphanage, HuiXin. This orphanage is home to over 100 special-needs children. They are all so, so beautiful—and they smile unbelievably wide whenever someone pays them a visit. Club members visit the orphanage on a regular basis to play with the children and help feed them.
Through these projects, we seek to cultivate in each and every one of us a heart to serve. Our mission is to make children smile by loving them from the heart. And this is incredibly worth it.
